What a Difference a Month Makes

Well here I am with a blog post. sorry it has taken a while but a lot has been going on in my life. As you might know, I have returned to the working world. I am now an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician. What that means is I completed training and passed a couple of exams to be certified by Apple to work on Macintosh computers.

Let me say that I love my job! Hours are great and I get the weekends off, great pay as well and I get along great with the staffโ€ฆeven if they are a bunch of Apple hating, PC guys. ๐Ÿ™‚ As far as the actual work goes, it has been pretty steady. I work on anywhere between 3 up to 5 systems a day. Some jobs require more time than others obviously, for example a software issue will take much less time and action where as a hardware issue usually means I am going to have to open up a computer which could take a considerable amount of time.

I have my own corner of the repair area at the store and have gone through and organized it to my liking when I have free time.

When I wake up in the morning I am actually happy about going to work, this has not been the case for my 2 previous jobs. I love it and I am learning so much!

On the home front, Savannah is now 1 and is quite the walker, even running almost. She is saying nana and dada and to see her excited when she sees me come home from work, brings a big smile to my face. Here she is enjoying her 1 year birthday cupcake, she loved rubbing her fingers in it and getting it all over her face.

On the exercise front, I am fighting the habit of backsliding. I am however going to run the Nightcrawler 5K this Friday at the park nearby with my friend Jeremy as well as my boss Eddie.

Well, I guess that is all for now. I will try and update more on a regular basis from here on out as time permits. Bye for now!

Catching up again

Apologies for the inactivity again, last week just got a head of me I guess. Thursday Kristen’s folks came up for a visit and left this morning so I was out of my routine a bit.

During the week our priest Fr. Tom was at a post-Easter retreat so there was no daily Mass during the week.

Tuesday evening we had a post-Easter Vigil dinner at RCIA. It was nice to have the whole family there, Savannah was a hit there of course. Great food and good fellowship.

On Wednesday I had my get out of the house day for a while. Ate at the Shaan Indian Palace again and as always great food.

Thursday the in-laws arrived and Savannah got a bath after dinner.

Friday was home all day, nothing too exciting really. Saturday morning I went to Atlanta Bread for a couple of hours, did some inner reflection and then went to Confession at church (Fr. Tom was back and taking Confessions), went home afterwards where Kristen’s folks made a chicken salad dinner. I read more of Catholicism by Fr. Barron.

Sunday we went to 10:30 Mass with the in-laws, afterward they headed back to our place and we met up with my folks, brother, his girlfriend and her son, for lunch. My brother is less than a month away from graduating Ole Miss (Hotty Toddy!!), we are all excited for him. Headed over to their place for a bit and then back home. Watched the Angels get beat, I posted some not so charitable words about the New York Yankees and then went to bed.

Today has been a nice day. Just was Savannah and I after the in-laws headed home. Got some laundry done and watched Glenn Beck both the radio show and TV show on the Roku. Also checked out the new food channel offerings as well on Roku.

Kristen came home from work and now just watching NCIS: L.A. on USA. That’s all for now.

Happy Birthday to Papa Benedicto XVI!!

Daily Scripture:

And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:18

Easter Weekend

Apologies for the lack of updates over the weekend. Was quite busy with a few things. I will forgo the regular time stamp updates here.

Good Friday

Around 12:30 am I updated my social network status as Lent ended Holy Thursday evening. Went to bed and had a good restful sleep.

Kristen had a 4 day Easter weekend so she spent time with Savannah while I attended the outdoor Stations of the Cross that our Hispanic Ministry puts on every Good Friday at St. James.

IMG 2468

Kristen worked the nursing home Friday evening so I couldn’t get to the Veneration of the Cross service that night. Later on in the evening I watched the Angels win their season opener over Kansas City at home. Did some reading afterward and went to bed.

Holy Saturday

Kristen let me sleep in Saturday morning and I was pleased to wake up to Serenity on SyFy so I watched that and then afterward got dressed and we had lunch at Atlanta Bread. After coming home, Kristen left to do work at the nursing home while Savannah and I watched the Cardinals and Brewers play on TV and listened to the Angels game on the iPhone via the MLB app (they lost this one).

Kristen came home and we grilled chicken on the grill on the back deck with perfect weather and had dinner. I got dressed in the suit and headed off to the Easter Vigil at St. James.

IMG 2499

Vigil was great, about 2 1/2 hours long, our priest looked tired though which is to be expected for a man his age during this time of the year. Hopefully he will get some rest this week.

Easter Sunday

Kristen went to the 10:30 Mass while I stayed home with Savannah. Once she got home we headed up to my folks for lunch and get together.

Had a good time and watched another Angels ballgame on TV (lost again). Back home we relaxed and watched TV, Celebrity Apprentice and Mad Men. More reading and then off to bed.

Was an interesting Easter this year, it was weird to not go to Mass together for the first time but by next year Savannah may be able to handle an Easter Vigil Mass length if I am a sponsor again which I hope to be.

Lent is Over

Good Morning, I didn’t get a chance to update DayOne yesterday so I’m doing all of this off the top of my head.

Savannah had her checkup at the pediatrician today. She is now 27.25″ tall and weighs 16.5 pounds.

After the visit, we stopped and got lunch to go from Newk’s Cafe, Savannah fell asleep in the car on the way home.

Kristen started to head up to the nursing home for work but came back home when the thunderstorm arrived. I went ahead and took a nap while she had some time with Savannah. I slept from 4-6 pm.

Once I woke up, I cuddled with Savannah until she fell asleep. Kristen went grocery shopping and I watched the Dodgers-Padres game on the AppleTV and kept score.

Dinner we had Chinese food and had good family time, even giving the dogs much needed attention.

The girls went to sleep and I hopped on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter, as Lent officially ended last night. Nice to be back on and updating.

Be back tomorrow.

Daily Scripture:

Therefore, let us not sleep as the rest do, but let us stay alert and sober.
