Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Balanced Life Weekly. A weekly blog about how I strive to live a more balanced life in all areas. Let’s take a look at what has been going on this week with me.
It has been a while since I had a Wise part to this blog, but I wanted to start off here for a very good reason. On Saturday, my wife gave me a gift for losing my first 20+ pounds, and that gift is a Kindle. I have been desiring one for a while and after I get to see my friend Jeremy’s in action, I really had to have one.
Needless to say since I got it, I have been glued to it! I read about 4-5 hours daily on it, everything from books to newspapers to blogs, it is just a joy to read. I am not new to the Kindle interface as I have their app on my iPad and iPhone, but reading a book on a smartphone is not preferable and on the iPad the backlit of the display strains the eyes after a good hour of reading. But I did have a book collection started on them so it was nice to see all the books I had there, transferred over to my new Kindle and I just continued on my Kindle where I left off on my iOS devices.
In the process, I have rediscovered just how much I love to read! I am reading biographies, books about faith and inspiration, and history. I also have subscribed to the Austin American-Statesman newspaper out of Austin, TX and I get a new edition sent to my Kindle and it is just there when I turn it on. With a lot of the TV series winding down their seasons like NCIS, CSI, Chuck, and a few other of my favorite shows, the timing is right to start reading. One side effect of reading my Kindle is it has kept me up late at night as I get so engrossed in what I am reading. I think everyone should own a Kindle!
I am now down about 22 pounds total! I focused on drinking more water last week and watching my sodium intake and it paid off on the scale. Water is good but I like to have flavor so I also drink Earl Grey tea both hot and cold and have vitamin waters that are zero calories. I am also about 2 1/2 weeks away from my first 5K, I can’t believe how fast it is approaching but I am totally ready for it. I am satisfied with my time on the current 5K’s I am doing in both my neighborhood and on the treadmill at the gym. If I can do my first 5K in 45 mins, I am going to be happy considering 5 months ago I was a couch potato.
Well, I think that is going to do it for this week’s edition of Balanced Life Weekly. Come by next week for another update. Take care and God Bless!
